While it is the norm to have antivirus/antimalware software installed on all your computers and network, it isn’t always enough to keep your data safe. This software usually has some automatic detection and real time scanning. However, bad bugs can, and likely will, be missed. You’ll want to go the extra mile and do some manual scanning monthly as well. If you use your computer for everything, work and play, you’ll want to scan a few times a month. Remember to run a one-time scan if you think you may clicked on something you shouldn’t have or went to a questionable website, for example. If you don’t have your antivirus/antimalware software icon readily available, use the SEARCH feature to locate it on your machine.
